About the Photographer  

Steve Baranoff grew up in Austin .  His photography experience spans 40 years.  From photographing people, he began his quest to capture the beauty of birds beginning in 2003.  The pursuit began while paddling the lakes of Central Texas in a kayak.  Many of his subjects are from Town Lake , Hornsby Bend , and his suburban Austin backyard. 

It can take countless trips, hours of patient waiting, and luck to capture photos of these birds in ideal poses and with perfect illumination.  In his pursuit for additional species, he travels with his digital cameras and super telephoto lenses to the Texas gulf coast, The Texas hill country, the baylands of northern California, the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia, and most lately, to Bosque, New Mexico to capture images of sandhill cranes and snow geese. 

Each photo presented here and in the “birdsbybaranoff” website has its own unique story.
